Dr. Hastad is the Director Nutrition, Research and Support Operations for New Fashion Pork in Jackson, MN. New Fashion Pork is an integrate swine production system in the United States with 60,000 sows and markets approximately 1.2 million pigs per year. They have operations in IA, IL, IN, MN, SD, and WY.
Chad grew up in western Minnesota on diversified crop and livestock operation, where he was involved in the many facets of agriculture. Chad earned his B.S. in Animal Science and minor in Ag Economics at South Dakota State University. He worked as a feed mill manager for a nation feed company for 4 years before returning to graduate school at Kansas State graduating earing his Ph. D in Swine Nutrition. While at Kansas State, Chad managed the Segregated Early Wean barn while his areas of research focused on DDGS, phosphorus, energy and marketing strategies. In 2005, Chad graduated from Kansas State University with a Ph.D. in Swine Nutrition
Chad joined NFP in 2011 where his responsibilities include research, animal nutrition, genetics, purchasing, and Triumph relationship. Today, Chad’s main focus at NFP is working in multiple areas to help drive profitability within NFP. He works with his team of people utilizing research, nutrition, data management, and marketing strategies to improve the bottom line in changing market conditions. He is passionate about sustainable pork production and strives for continuous improvement in applied settings.
