Joël van Mierlo is the R&D manager at Micreos Food Safety B.V., a company producing bacteriophage products against food pathogens. Before he joined the company in 2013, Joël successfully graduated his PhD at the Radboud University in Nijmegen in the Medical Microbiology department on the topic of antiviral defense in insects. Due to his strong interest in molecular virology, which already developed during his MSc biotechnology study at the Wageningen University of Life Sciences, he is more than enthusiastic to develop new phage products at Micreos in the areas of food safety and animal health.
