Jared Lewis was born in 1980 in Effingham, IL, USA. He obtained his B.S. from the University of Illinois and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley (Profs. Jonathan Ellman and Robert Bergman). He was an NIH postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Frances Arnold at Caltech. He started his independent career at the University of Chicago in 2011, and he moved to Indiana University as an Associate Professor in 2018. Research in the Lewis group focuses on developing and understanding new organometallic, enzymatic, and hybrid catalyst platforms for challenging chemical reactions.
