Deepika is a Senior Portfolio Manager at Grand Challenges Canada, an impact-first investment organization, where she manages a portfolio of health startups and innovations that serve the health needs of women and children in low and middle income countries.

In this role, she strategically supports portfolio ventures to achieve their investment, growth and impact milestones by applying her impact and management expertise and catalyzing network connections to help innovations scale during and beyond their early stages of growth. Deepika is a recognized thought leader in the sector of scaling health innovations for global health and impact. She comes from a background in health sciences and technologies, through her ten years of experience across a variety of scientific disciplines, including infection biology, virology, immunology, cancer and bioengineering.

Deepika was a postdoctoral scientist with the University of Toronto, at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering. She received her PhD from the Hannover Medical School in Germany, her Masters in Molecular Microbiology from the University of Nottingham and a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Mumbai. Deepika holds a certificate in Strategic Management from the Copenhagen Business School and is a candidate for the CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) designation.
